Week 3

Tuesday May 29, 2012
We nearly finished the first side of our second design, besides a few last minute touches that may be needed. Hopefully this square design will be more effective and also not weigh much more. We doubled most of the beams with two spaghetti sticks which will hopefully allow it to hold more weight.

Wednesday May 30, 2012
The first side of our new bridge was finally completed today. After the glue somewhat dried we took this completed half off of the paper. We altered the X's on the bridge and made them slightly different than the ones drawn on the design. Tomorrow we will begin and possibly will to also complete the second half of this bridge. This square design will hopefully be stronger.

Thursday May 31, 2012
Today  we started on the second side to our bridge and got fairly close to finishing it. We started running out of glue which is why it doesn't look very organized and structured. We will hopefully we will continue to finish the whole bridge by tomorrow and test it the day of the final.
Friday June 1, 2012
Today we completely finished our second bridge. This time we made the spaghetti support lines under the lasagna piece instead of on top of it. Hopefully this completed square bridge will be stronger than our last bridge was.

Week 2

Monday May 21, 2012
Today we only had a small amount of repairs left on our bridge. We tested our bridge with weights and took a video of it. Again, its final weight was 96g. It held 1000g then 1200g. When we attempted to put 1500g on it it broke. This is satisfactory for our first bridge and we hope to make a better one for our second. Now with the rest of class we are creating a new design for our second bridge which will hopefully be better than the first.

Tuesday May 22, 2012
Our first bridge only held up 1200g so now we are going to try to make a stronger bridge. Today we have been thinking of new designs and came up with one that might work. Our main problem with our first bridge was that the spagetti noodles that were supposed to help support the weight but they were all above the lasagna. When the weight was put on the bridge it snapped all of the "support" and the lasagna was left to fend for itself. This time with our second design we will be sure to put support on the underside instead of on top.

Wednsday May 23, 2012
Today we have begun glueing spagetti and creating our new design. This second bridge will hopfully be even better than the first, and we are planning to make it just as lightweight as our previous design. Basically, a sturdy but light design is our goal to try and get the best ratio of the weight of the bridge comparing to how much it could hold.

Thursday May 24, 2012
Today we continued the start of the first side of our new bridge. It has been taking a little big longer getting used to our new design but it is doing well. Here is a picture of the start of most of the first side of our new bridge. We are going for more of a square bridge this time instead of a curve.

Week 1

Monday, May 14, 2012
We finished first side of bridge. We plan to began the second half tomorrow after cutting out the first side from the wax paper. This rounded bridge will hopefully be able to hold plenty of weight for its size.

Tuesday, May 15, 2012
We ripped the first side off the glue today and just barley began the second side. Here is a picture of our completly done first side. We still aren't sure how we plan to connect the two sides once we have built them both but we will consider this as we build another side.

Wednsday May 16, 2012
We finished the second side of the bridge but it may still need a few repairs tomorrow. We hope to be able to begin connecting the two sides tomorrow but we will see what happens.

Thursday May 17, 2012
Today Max and I did some repairs on the second side of the bridge and also ripped it off the wax paper. Although we didn't get to connecting the two sides, we will tomorrow after the second side continues to dry.

Friday May 18, 2012
Today we completed finished connecting the two sides of our bridge. On Monday we will take a video while our bridge is tested to find out how much weight it can hold. We are hoping for atleast 1500g, but it is a small bridge so anything over 1000g would be good.
